No Man Lays It To Heart
The Desolation Of Homes In America

THE VERSE

“But after I uproot them, I will again have compassion, and will bring each of them back to his own inheritance and his own country.” (Jeremiah 10:15)

THE CONTEXT

“Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trampled down My portion; they have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. They have made it a desolation; desolate, it mourns to Me. The whole land is made desolate, but no man lays it to heart. After I have plucked them up, I will again have compassion on them, and I will bring them again, each to his heritage and each to his land.” (Jeremiah 10:10-11, 15)

LET’S LOOK AT THIS PASSAGE A LITTLE CLOSER

As I read this passage, I see the state of homes in America as the vineyard and pleasant portion that has been destroyed, trampled, and made desolate. And yet, alas, just as in these verses, it seems that the majority do not lay it to heart. Our society is not lacking for religion. There are churches in every town. But even the churches are not building up righteous unified families. While religion flourishes, while popularity blossoms, while businesses succeed, while education blooms, while materialism sky-rockets...... the homes are laid low. The beauty of Scriptural, Yahweh-fearing, fully-functional homes is not valued in our culture and is not extolled in our religion. All across America, the schools are full. The stores are full. The sports arenas are full. The restaurants are full. The doctor’s offices are full. The churches are full. And the homes? The homes are empty. Where is the family? Here, there, and everywhere. Where are the brightly burning flames of the family fireside? Extinguished, for no one is there to tend or enjoy them. Many many homes across our broad land are empty. Our nation appears to be flourishing. In reality, the larger percentage of the most key element of our nation is desolate. No man lays it to heart.... or not many men anyway. Will we lay it to heart? Yahweh wants to have compassion. It is very much in Yahweh’s heart to bring us back to our homes again, to bring us back to our heritage, to bring us back to our families, and to revive our homes and fill them with the fire of His passion, purpose, light, and love. We may not be able to change the whole world, but each one of us can allow Yahweh to change us and our home.
